"Song of Waitaha" is the document of a little-known pre-Māori culture in New Zealand. With the first publication of the texts that had only been passed down orally until the late 1980s, the Waitaha fulfilled a two-thousand-year-old prophecy linked to a specific constellation of stars. Through personal connections, the book made its way to Germany, where it was brilliantly translated and designed by Winfried Altmann and ultimately authorized by the guardians of the Waitaha songs. The Waitaha settled in New Zealand in the 2nd century, coming from the Easter Islands. They were a peaceful people, matriarchal in nature, and deeply committed to nurturing and caring for Mother Earth. They possessed economic knowledge and practiced a gentle, sustainable way of living, had no weapons, and survived the conquest.
