Drama work in English lessons is still a much too rarely used opportunity to address the ever-increasing heterogeneity in German classrooms. This can be productively utilized by allowing learners to bring their individual experiences and identities into the classroom. How this is possible is demonstrated in this documented teaching attempt in lower secondary education at a community school, which is initially presented and prepared theoretically, and then offers numerous practical teaching tips in its later sections. Current didactically relevant discourses such as intercultural communication, gender studies/queer theory, literature didactics in lower secondary education, and drama pedagogy are used here in an interdisciplinary connection to further develop foreign language teaching.
