Dresden, the "Florence on the Elbe," has experienced a tumultuous history. Especially during the reign of Augustus the Strong and his son Augustus II, a true golden age of architecture emerged, resulting in genuine Baroque gems such as the Zwinger, the Frauenkirche, the area of the Neustadt around the Dreikönigskirche, and the Catholic Court Church. After the complete destruction of the historic old town in February 1945, we are now witnessing a brilliant rebirth of the magnificent music and art center of Dresden.
