Years after Radili bought a knife following threatening harassment from skinheads, he returns as an adult to the same city, and his new friends from the leftist shared apartment want to make a film about it. The search for the knife that was buried back then is the first of many situations that the narrator unfolds before us, dropping, reintroducing, and connecting them in very unorthodox ways. He develops a scene in the Jewish Museum that leads into a crime story, discusses with his mother memories of a village in Romania occupied by the Germans ("A fat man rolling up his sleeves, almost to the armpits, and saying, up to here, up to here I would have dipped my arms in Jewish blood, lives in my mother"), he recaps a school trip to archaeological excavations in northern Israel, and time and again.
