The volume, introduced and edited by Herbert Lepper, uncovers a party-historical legacy that has been largely unknown until now, yet deserves attention. The texts set their own political accents in many respects and reflect the party's programmatic stance. The sources provide an instructive insight over decades into the composition of the middle and lower party elites in the two Prussian western provinces of Rhineland and Westphalia. For the first time, numerous statutes and regulations of the Centre Party are published, extending down to the district, city, and local levels. The introduction outlines the party organizational framework within which the historical texts are to be contextualized.
