The Curse of the Black Boar
The Inn at the Black Boar is undoubtedly one of the most famous taverns in the history of German role-playing games. Countless players found their way into the world of pen-and-paper role-playing games and the world of The Dark Eye: Aventuria through the phrase Grotho, Garax, Grotho Greifax, Count of Gratenfels. For the 40th anniversary of The Dark Eye, we want to revisit the inn at the foot of the Kosch Mountains near the town of Gratenfels.
This anthology contains four adventures:
The original "At the Inn at the Black Boar" or "The Tavern of Terror" from 1984 by Werner Fuchs throws the heroes headfirst into a race for life and death through a dungeon from the early days of The Dark Eye.
In "The Secret of the Black Boar" by Thomas Finn from 1997, the heroes return to the inn where many a hero's career began. Throughout the adventure, the heroes uncover a centuries-old secret that could explain the reason for the extensive cellar systems beneath the tavern.
For the 30th anniversary of The Dark Eye, "Misfortune at the Black Boar" by Tobias Töpp and Maria Eckervogt was released for the first time as an adventure in a retro format, in the original version of The Dark Eye as it appeared in the 1984 Basic Game adventure. The adventure continues the absurd story of the original adventure and expands it with very classic-nostalgic, but also modern elements, allowing the heroes to explore the corridors and caverns beneath the inn once again.
The concluding scenario "Stormy Night" by Nikolai Hoch also begins at the Inn at the Black Boar. What initially appears to be a manhunt soon reveals itself as an ancient legacy from the time of the Priest-Emperors and develops into a confrontation with the servants of a power.
