Grief, meanness, wit, and friendship are closely intertwined. Royce is seventeen and has recently taken on a new task: he is supposed to take care of his ancient grandfather Arthur, who drives everyone around him crazy, in exchange for cash. It's not an easy challenge, as his mother Nina also thinks. However, what starts as a purely business relationship soon becomes something more, and Royce and the elderly Arthur become quite the best friends.
