Marga von Etzdorf - a aviator and her story. During one of her spectacular long-distance flights, the young aviator Marga von Etzdorf meets a German diplomat and spends an unusual night with him, close yet apart. Shortly thereafter, in May 1933, she takes her own life in Aleppo, Syria. What happened? Uwe Timm's narrator wanders decades later through the Berlin Invalids' Cemetery, where Marga von Etzdorf's grave lies, as well as those of Scharnhorst and Heydrich. He hears the voices of the dead, searching for Marga, for our history.
