From the vastness of space directly to the heart. For his birthday, Bastian wishes for two things: a telescope and for his father to remember his birthday. He can't express this, as he hasn't spoken since his mother's death. Although Bastian doesn't receive the desired telescope, they go to the observatory instead. There, Bastian gazes into the depths of the universe – and discovers a story. That very night, he sketches it in his notebook: it's about a boy named Buzz, who launches himself into space with a homemade rocket. After an adventurous journey, the Big Bang sends him hurtling back to the moon, and Buzz realizes that the most beautiful spot in the universe has always been right beneath his feet: Earth. The trip to space changes not only Buzz but also his creator, Bastian.
