Two voices, two authors, black and white. Rashad just wanted to buy a bag of chips, but as soon as he entered the store, he was brutally knocked down by a police officer. Another boy witnessed the incident: Quinn, who happens to be friends with the attacker's family. Rashad is black, and the police officer is white. Another racist assault? Like so many others? Rashad ends up in the hospital, and Quinn finds himself caught in the middle. He must decide: Will he testify and become a traitor? Or will he keep quiet and remain silent about discrimination and violence? Meanwhile, Rashad's friends are organizing a demonstration against racism and police brutality. A city is thrown into a state of emergency. And two teenagers are right in the middle of it all.
