What truth can we live with? - About free will and religious fundamentalism. A bizarre murder: The body of a prostitute is found in the garden of an evangelical church community center. In her skull, there is a note with a religious message: "The truth will set you free." When detective Anton Glauberg returns home from the crime scene, he is surprised to find his former colleague Paula Reinhardt waiting at his door. Reinhardt had been convicted of murder years ago - now she is free on probation. Glauberg takes Paula with him on his investigation, which soon leads him to a researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Neurobiology. This researcher had declared God dead from a scientific perspective - and thereby angered the representatives of the evangelical church.
