With his poetry lecture in Frankfurt, Günter Grass opened the lecture series "Reflections on Germany" on February 25, 1990, at the German State Opera in East Berlin. This series was organized in spring 1990 by the Ministry of Culture of the GDR, the Verlag der Nation, and the Luchterhand Literary Publishing House. Christoph Hein introduced Grass in his opening remarks as the "most famous unknown of the other German state.".
