The three Prussian towns of Altstadt, Kneiphof, and Löbenicht, once autonomous, were united in 1724 under Friedrich Wilhelm I as the "Royal Prussian Capital and Residence City of Königsberg" after several years of preparation. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in the city's history: the constitutional special status of the former towns was abolished, and a common area of municipal administration was created. This document deals with the inhabitants, trade and commerce, as well as the administration of the city of Königsberg.
