This volume compiles the results of a working discussion held at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel, to which the editors invited Kant experts from Germany, Russia, and the USA in 2009. The outcome of the text interpretation and discussion reflected in this volume includes, on one hand, answers to questions relevant to the edition, and on the other hand, clarifications of fundamental questions regarding the content and systematics of the Metaphysics of Morals as a whole and its two parts, Metaphysical Foundations of the Theory of Right and Metaphysical Foundations of the Doctrine of Virtue. A particular concern for the editors is the rejection of a recently fashionable deconstruction of the Kantian original text, especially concerning the Theory of Right. The editors are convinced that this volume, thanks to the contributions it contains, makes a valuable contribution to Kant research.
