The starting point of the investigation is the question of whether it is possible to discover the outlines of a distinct legal philosophical approach within Adorno's critical social theory, which must also be understood as a philosophy of knowledge and history, that would serve as the basis for the justifiability of a negative natural law. According to Adorno, today's society, whether it is oriented towards totalitarianism or relatively democratic principles, obeys, down to the psychological fine structures of its members, the law of the absolute identity principle.
