The economic significance of football is increasing, and registered clubs are being increasingly converted into corporations. As a result, the question of the economic value of a football club is gaining relevance. Jan Peter Korthals examines the common valuation methods for their suitability in assessing football enterprises and demonstrates that, despite existing application difficulties, DCF and earnings valuation methods are the most appropriate. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the problem areas in DCF and earnings valuation determination. A particular focus is placed on forecasting a football club's revenues, and a corresponding model is developed. The author presents a novel, empirically derived method to assess the sporting success, which is a significant influencing factor of a football enterprise's revenues.
