For companies that provide services in kind, a process technology system is an essential foundation for existence. Since deficiencies in technological equipment are often associated with competitive disadvantages, there is a causal relationship between mastering technology and its utilization and the economic development of enterprises. Karl-Andreas Zotter examines the internal and external factors that influence the direction and speed of process technological changes. He develops a concept for a process technology system at the normative, strategic, and operational management levels. Building on this, he presents the process technology strategy as an integral element of the corporate strategy system and discusses the interactions between the functional area strategies.
