The term informal learning is referred to in educational discourse as a residual category, a promise, and a contingency formula. Not only is it essential to identify informal continuing education environments, but also to theoretically underpin the concept of informal learning through vocational and adult education research. Gabriele Molzberger examines the relationship between continuing education as a discipline and social institution and the social practice of informal learning.
