Since September 11, 2001, terrorism has come into the global spotlight. With the increased occurrence of fundamentalist terror, media coverage has also grown, and the literature in this field has become almost unmanageable. Despite this wealth of information, the necessary orientation knowledge for the reader often falls short. This book presents, in a concise and understandable manner, the development trends, motives, and societal and economic impacts of terrorism. Differences and possible parallels between terrorist organizations and criminal organizations are explained, and the financing of terrorism is examined in detail through selected examples. Another focus is the fight against terrorism, centering on questions of security at all costs and its implications.
