Product details
From the estate of the great poetess. In August 2000, Sarah Kirsch set off on a journey to Cornwall and Devon with her son, always keeping her diary at hand. Traveling by Danish ship across the North Sea in pleasant weather, searching for accommodation in Penzance, "once the home of sardines, then the Eldorado of painters," on walks where she is captivated by the interplay of colors over the sea: "silver-white lace gray as for Mr. Turner, later the sea black lacquer." On foot, they make their way to St. Michael's Mount, through the land of Rosamunde Pilcher with "enchanted little houses and glorious gardens." The train races over salt marshes to Torquay. The linguistic finesse, the unique nature descriptions, and Sarah Kirsch's keen eye make her travel observations a literary gem. Once again, the talent of the great poetess is revealed.
