Product details

What happens when heating carbonated mineral water? How much ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is in an apple? How does the pH value change when dissolving effervescent tablets? What occurs during fermentation? Chemical equilibria (and their shifts, among other things due to pH changes), oxidations, and reductions always play a role. Test strips are used as an important tool for the total of 131 experiments, allowing for semi-quantitative analyses in a very short time. This way, reaction progress can be recorded, as well as solution and precipitation reactions. Understanding and learning about chemical reactions is the focus of all experiments. Following the chapter on equilibrium reactions, redox reactions are explored using examples of copper, iron, ascorbic acid, sulfite/sulfate, and nitrite/nitrate. Another chapter is dedicated to the chemical and enzymatic reactions of glucose.
