Product details

Who hasn't thought of a journey while listening to organ music? Initially, it’s a journey of sound in the ear – but nothing is closer than adding the experience of a real trip to it. And it’s a good idea to do this in Central Germany, in the homelands of the Reformation, whose spirit gave strong impulses to organ music, in the landscape of Johann Sebastian Bach, the master of organ music par excellence, and in the places of work of such famous organ builders as Gottfried Silbermann, Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost, Zacharias Hildebrandt, or Friedrich Ladegast.

The book "Organs in Saxony-Anhalt" is a guide to these locations of a music culture that has been outstanding for centuries and is still vibrant today. It presents the most significant instruments, describes the associated church or concert spaces, mentions other organs located in the area, and also points out the other attractions in the vicinity and the most important relevant music events in the region.

"Organs in Saxony-Anhalt" aims to be a travel guide suitable for day trips and weekend excursions as well as for a longer holiday journey: The individual destinations can of course also be combined into a round trip.

The authors are Felix Friedrich, a recognized organ specialist and organist at the Trost organ in the Schlosskirche in Altenburg, and musicologist and organist Vitus Froesch. The two predecessor volumes "Organs in Thuringia" and "Organs in Saxony" received very positive feedback.
