Since ancient times, people have learned to better understand the foreign and the familiar through intercultural exchange, not least through the perception of difference. Native culture and foreign culture meet, complement, and expand each other. The contributions gathered in this conference volume illuminate, from different perspectives, the approaches and questions of art therapists working across cultures. In therapeutic fields, the uniqueness of the foreign is given space that is free from censorship and the demands of evaluative comparison. Selected art therapy examples presented in this volume showcase various fields of art therapy. Theoretical contributions shed light on the uniqueness of therapeutic work in the intercultural space from a broader perspective.
