The church is in a rapid decline. Through his work as the director of the Recollectio House, Wunibald Müller has encountered a church over the past 25 years that is increasingly decayed, frail, and at risk of collapse. But what a wealth, what deep experiences would be lost to us if the church were no longer there?! Perhaps, on the other hand, much of what we have understood as church so far must pass away, collapse, so that we can refocus on what truly matters. For that is what defines the church: people who pray, who love, who are there for others, who gather in "his name" and experience that "he" is in their midst. There are no recipes or solutions in the face of the difficult situation, but there are spiritually and psychologically oriented suggestions and encouragements against fear and resignation.
