The book "Ecology of a Glacial Flood Plain" is a comprehensive monograph that presents the key findings of a detailed study of a glacial floodplain in the Swiss Alps. This research is based on an intensive research program conducted year-round over several years. Until recently, knowledge about the ecology of glacial streams was limited, as previous studies typically focused on only one or a few aspects and were restricted to the summer months. This work is the first comprehensive ecological investigation of a glacial floodplain with a dynamic, multi-threaded channel network. Year-round sampling in a complex channel system led to unexpected results and new insights into the ecology of glacial streams. The book addresses the landscape features, glacial history, and development of the Val Roseg floodplain, providing in-depth insights into various ecological aspects, including the interactions between groundwater and surface water, as well as the dynamics of nutrients and biota.
