A young woman purchases a slim book by an unknown author, "The Ice Age" by Jeanne Saré, in a Parisian antiquarian bookstore. She reads it in just a few hours and feels as if she has aged years and been fundamentally changed in a disturbing way. As it turns out, she is not the only one whose life is altered after reading it. Shortly after its release in the 1970s, the book caused a stir, and its author became a myth: a 17-year-old suicide filled with hatred and longing, who did not live to see the publication of her texts. The feminist left celebrates her as a martyr, yet a dark pull seems to emanate from Saré's words: 14 young women follow the author into suicide. Decades later, a few people in present-day Paris set out to uncover the dark secret of the text and its effects.
