A hands-on approach to economics with a special focus on the connections between economy and ecology, suitable for HBFS, BFS, BAS, FS, and WGym. Up-to-date materials, supplemented by targeted internet research, as well as historically significant source texts, form the basis of a student-centered economics curriculum. Students are highly motivated to engage in self-directed learning. Topics include: fundamentals of economics, factors of production, economic cycles and national accounts, markets and prices, money, economic fluctuations and economic policy, actors and instruments of economic policy, economic systems and economic orders. The integration of English-language prompts and references to the "English matters" teaching units across all topics enables and consistently promotes a bilingual economics education.
