"In just over thirty years, one-fifth to one-quarter of the population of Europe will be of African descent," writes African expert Stephen Smith in his new book. This could amount to between 150 million and 200 million people, compared to the nine million today. The forecast that Smith elaborates on in his book makes it clear how helpless the statements of many politicians in Europe are. The idea of building any kind of fence around the aging continent is a silly illusion. It is no longer about keeping immigrants out – it is about consciously acknowledging their arrival and managing it thoughtfully. Europe will have no other choice.
