Product details

The special aura of this place, located about 30 kilometers northeast of Bremen, has been preserved, and its name remains inseparably linked to artistic creation: Worpswede. In the late 19th century, painters settled here, drawn by the striking colors of the landscape, the unique light, and the vast sky over the moor. "Painting outdoors instead of in studios and art schools" was their motto. The most well-known artists who lived and worked here include Fritz Mackensen, Otto Modersohn, Hans am Ende, Fritz Overbeck, Heinrich Vogeler, and Paula Modersohn-Becker. The book takes the reader to Worpswede, telling the story of the artists' lives and, above all, about grand ideals, atmospheric paintings, and the beginning of a new era. The artists: - Paula Modersohn-Becker - Fritz Mackensen - Otto Modersohn - Hans am Ende - Fritz Overbeck.
