In any case, the first 'Hagenbuch' story was created in 1975. We were in Graz for the 'Styrian Autumn' when I suddenly had the idea, played around with the subjunctive and indirect speech, and told the others that I would write a story about a Hagenbuch, which would go like this: 'Hagenbuch has now admitted that the upbringing of his children is completely misguided...' I didn't know much more at that point. Shortly thereafter, this story came to life. For me, it was clear that I had found a form and a character where I could incorporate all my Hüsch images that had no place in my other cabaret program. My imagination, my quirky colors and tones, my longings, my ways of thinking and speaking influenced by Thomas Bernhard, the great role model.
