500 years of Reformation. The life of the reformer Martin Luther in comic format. When ZDF asked in one of its many rankings who the "most popular German" was, the majority chose Konrad Adenauer. Martin Luther came in second place - to the surprise of many who would not have expected such popularity. This will certainly receive a boost when, in 2016/2017, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation is commemorated, marking one of the great turning points in Western history. Luther, a significant figure, is loved and hated to this day; he remains, in the best sense, a controversial figure. Heinrich Heine described the reformer's significance as follows: "By stating that one must refute his teachings only through the Bible itself or through reasonable arguments, Luther granted human reason the right to interpret the Bible.".
