Joachim Sdunek, born in 1952 in Greifswald, did not spend his life in divided Germany with his eyes closed and witnessed much of the reconstruction of the GDR after World War II and the everyday lives of its people. Ultimately, he also experienced the decline and the reunification. In his autobiographical account, he tells in a refreshing and vivid manner about a country where not everything was good, but far from everything was bad.
