Ten years ago, the spatial concept Switzerland was published – a milestone. However, it did not and does not provide solutions for many questions and current megatrends, particularly migration, climate change, and digitalization, as well as land rights, affordable housing, and the future of the Alpine region. Therefore, the two experienced landscape researchers and spatial observers, Hans-Georg Bächtold and Köbi Gantenbein, have created a platform with Agenda Raum Schweiz, where spatial planners and sociologists, geographers and architects, geologists, economists, and other professionals can think, talk, and write about spatial planning. The 32 contributions, which were initially available on Hochparterre.ch, have now been revised and compiled for this publication. What has emerged is not a systematic treatise, but a collage that is complemented by insights from managing directors of major companies and directors of important institutions – from Alpiq to SBB.
