Etel Adnan is one of the most cosmopolitan figures in Arab culture. She writes poetry, stories, plays, and essays, and with her novel Sitt Marie Rose, which has been translated into more than ten languages, she has created a classic of Middle Eastern literature. A few years ago, Etel Adnan began to engage intensively with the work of Heiner Müller. She discovered similarities in experiences, thinking, approaches to certain themes, and language.
