Product details

The lower valley of the Omo River in southwestern Ethiopia is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most beautiful regions in Africa. Known as the cradle of humanity, this area captivates not only with its unique landscape but also with the diverse culture of its inhabitants. Along the river, the Karo, Mursi, and Hamer tribes have lived for centuries, known for their expressive body painting and rituals that are unique worldwide. Ken Hermann has visited the region numerous times. In striking photographs, he portrays the confident Omo people, showcasing their way of life and traditions, as well as the incredibly beautiful valley and its nature. Hermann's book is a tribute to a region whose existence has been threatened for years by a dam project initiated by the Ethiopian government, as the balance of the sensitive Omo ecosystem will be permanently altered.
