Product details
Filmmaker Iwan Schumacher, known for his artist portraits, bought a small camera in early 1972, which he carried with him at all times - the camera as a notebook. From then on, Schumacher was captivated by landscapes, people, and light moods he encountered. The small Canon allowed him to take spontaneous photographs without a predetermined subject, similar to how we use our smartphones today. He spent the first half of 1972 in England, where he had been teaching photography at an art school for a year and a half. After returning to Switzerland, he assisted on a documentary film and prepared his first film as a director. Over time, he felt less and less inclined to continue his photographic diary. By the end of 1972, he stopped photographing and fully dedicated himself to film.
