Yet, in a patriarchal world, she has a choice. After her death, Laurette Schilling's fate inspired poets like Hans Fallada and Fedor Sommer. In this book, published by her great-grandnephew Mathias Schilling, who now oversees the affairs of the treasure island, she finally speaks for herself. Laurette's writings reveal an independent and daring woman who did not fit into any mold, was far ahead of her time, and wrote captivatingly.
