Christine Koschel's poems absorb the world as it is. She does not shy away from the "gleaming spoils" of images that flicker within us, nor does she fend them off. Michelangelo's "Creation of Man," Himmler's speech in Poznań, Bach's Magnificat, and the banks of the "great Oder River" – all of these are themes in her metaphor-rich poetry. With the most economical means, a passionate plea for the fire in words is created.
