Be mobile! This is the new imperative of the unbounded and flexible work regimes. Business trips and stays abroad are no longer privileges of the leadership elite. Hypermobility is entering the everyday lives of more and more employees—at all levels of hierarchy and in jobs that were never mobile. Mobility competence is becoming a general performance requirement; managing the new stresses in a socially sustainable way is becoming a design challenge. However, to act competently and maintain a socially acceptable balance between work and life, mobile employees need good framework conditions. In the work science debate, the spatial mobilization of the working world has hardly been addressed so far. The discussion about mobile work forgets that markets can only be accessed if the geographical spaces are actually traveled by cars, trains, and airplanes.
