The 80+ generation has shared their stories. At the suggestion of the Salzburg Educational Institute, Senior Education Working Group, an interview team traveled through Lungau between 2012 and 2014, speaking with 26 individuals to discuss and record their memories. The focus is on their often sparse, yet in retrospect happy childhood and youth before World War II, their experiences during the war, whether in the field or at home, how they perceived the end of the war and the arrival of foreign troops, and how life continued within their families and local communities. These are touching and powerful narratives that will remind older readers of their own life experiences while providing the younger generation with diverse insights into a not-so-distant, yet past era.
