Mood, expression, intimate moments - live. Photographer Röné Bringold combines his two greatest passions in his most extensive publication to date: photography and jazz music. For him, jazz and photography are soulmates: "The photographer is a close confidant of the improvising musician: both are deeply connected in their struggle for artistic expression. Thus, I continually strive to capture the essentially impossible: to visually seize acoustic moments." What he captures and simultaneously creates with his often painterly images are moments of pure playfulness, utmost concentration, and absolute introspection and intimacy. Particularly the latter is always astonishing, as all the black-and-white images were taken during live performances or soundchecks.
