Product details

Schang Hutter is one of the most significant and distinctive sculptors of our time. Since the beginning of his career, the human figure has been his central theme. He is particularly concerned with human fears, as well as historical references. Hutter's works are represented in the most important collections both domestically and internationally. Nevertheless, to this day, aside from a few catalogs, there is no book that comprehensively describes and documents his work, thoughts, and life. This publication fills that gap. Author Hanspeter Gschwend has dedicated years of research to the life and work of Schang, providing us for the first time with insight into a life that is not entirely simple, yet marked by an unstoppable creative force, through numerous unpublished documents. A comprehensive overview of his works and an essay by Peter Bichsel and Elsbeth Schild complement the publication.
