Letteralmente - Liberamente is aimed at advanced learners who want to improve their Italian skills through translation from German. The textbook contains twenty texts, primarily drawn from contemporary German literature and press. The modern literary text, which does not require mastery of specific technical terminology, is particularly suitable for focusing on structural issues in Italian. The novelty and strength of this teaching material lie in the variety of exercises related to each text. After intentionally concise explanations, which do not replace consulting an Italian grammar, learners are made aware of specific grammatical and lexical structures that they can practice and deepen purposefully. The emphasis is on issues that are relevant from a contrastive perspective for the German/Italian language pair: among others, prepositions, perfect/imperfect tenses, subordinate clauses, direct and indirect speech, and idiomatic expressions.
