Given the increasing number of Turkish marriages in Germany, German-Turkish marriages, and the rise of dual citizenship, both German and Turkish courts are increasingly confronted with issues of international private and procedural law in German-Turkish legal relations, particularly in the area of family law. Divorce holds significant practical importance. The divorce of Turkish and German-Turkish couples raises complex questions in international private law, regarding the international jurisdiction of courts, as well as the mutual recognition of court judgments. The author presents the legal situation with special consideration of the legal practice in both countries, addresses current legal issues in German-Turkish legal relations, and offers constructive proposals for resolving these problems.
