Product details
Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736) was once a famous military commander and played a significant role in establishing Austria's great power status within Europe. Through his connections with the Spanish and Austrian Habsburgs, as well as various cross-border familial ties, he was able to pave the way for a remarkable military career. The first volume covers the childhood and youth of the prince, his rise in the service of the Habsburgs during the Turkish War, and the early years of the War of the Spanish Succession from 1663 to 1707. The author of this work, Alfred von Arneth (1897-1897), was a historian and politician in Austria throughout his life and wrote numerous works on the high nobility of the 17th and 18th centuries. This is a carefully edited reprint of the original edition from 1858.
