December 27, 1898, is a day that the adventurer and inventor Albert Conrad von Ulebruck has long awaited: it is the day of a total lunar eclipse in the Eifel, when the legendary sunken castle from Lake Laach is said to rise. When Albert and his friend Jonathan finally witness the event and the castle indeed emerges from its watery grave, the demons and spirits residing within also become active.

Inside, they encounter the farmer's daughter Christiane, who wishes to escape the horrors of the castle, and the Devil, who presents Albert with an irresistible offer.

Manuel Otto Bendrin, born in 1984, lives in Aachen and has been publishing fantastic short stories since 2017. His writing focuses on fantasy and fantastic horror.
