Jan Kammann teaches English and Geography in an international preparatory class in Hamburg. In the classroom, students from over twenty nations come together, from life experiences that couldn't be more different. One day, he realizes he wants to learn more about their backgrounds and discover what was once their home. Kammann takes a sabbatical year and sets off, armed with plenty of tips, addresses, and travel recommendations from his students. He experiences everyday life in Cuba, Nicaragua, and Colombia, South Korea, China, Russia, Kosovo, Albania, Armenia, Iran, and Ghana. Unconventionally and warmly, he shares his experiences of being a teacher today and the world where he himself becomes a student for a year.
