Product details

How a young boy survived two ghettos, Auschwitz, and the death march, and found a new life. It could have been a happy childhood, but then the Germans came: the family was arrested and confined to the ghetto. This was followed by deportation to Auschwitz, the infamous death march in 1944, and the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. After a true odyssey, Buergenthal later became a judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Long after he published his memoirs in 2007, he gained access to new documents that now allow him to finally complete the story of his family. "Survival had become a game for me at some point, a game I played against Hitler, the SS, and the crematoria. I wanted to win." Thomas Buergenthal, revised and expanded new edition.
