In 1972, Karl Ignaz Hennetmair decided to keep a diary about the incidents and conversations with his neighbor Thomas Bernhard. The writer naturally has his difficulties with the outside world, which initially does not notice him, but increasingly pressures him as his fame grows. To cope with this, there was Hennetmair. He not only conveyed Bernhard's realities, his houses, and forests, but also acted as a regulator between the poet and reality in terms of the everyday life to be managed. Additionally, he kept unwanted visitors away from Bernhard and welcomed him as a guest among his own family. There, they would chat, joke, and arrange the affairs of the world. Later, Hennetmair would retreat to his little room and take notes. In doing so, he created a document of invaluable worth that also sheds light on some of the darker sides of the master.
