The mountain - it has already formed the backdrop for the books of chief forester Bert Trattnig. In the book "A Life for Mountain Hunting," he reflects on his life dedicated to hunting, wildlife, and forestry, painting "a picture of the whole, a picture of the harsh and unyielding nature": of mountain spring, when the melting water rushes during the morning return from capercaillie hunting and the thawing earth begins to breathe, of summer, when the marmots whistle above the tree line and the sun mercilessly beats down on the vast cirques, of autumn, when the deer call out among the changing larch forests, and of winter, when the chamois dash through the snowstorm over the pastures lying in icy deathly stillness. In this "harsh and unyielding nature," Bert Trattnig has grown, matured, and learned humility, but at the same time, it has allowed him to be "light in spirit and joyful in heart."
